Presentations:

The first presentation is by Karl Heyer, an Insight AI Fellow and a Data Scientist at BlackThorn Therapeutics, who will present his Deep Synthesis project. Planning chemical synthesis can be complex, costly, and time-consuming. Karl's project uses machine translation to predict chemical reactions. He will talk about model training using SMILES strings and Transformer architecture as well as building such robust systems for serving ML at scale.

The second presentation is by Christine Payne, a Fastai fellow and researcher at OpenAI, who will present her Neural Net Music Generator project. Christine will talk about her encoding of midi files and model training for predicting notes and chords sequences, using fastai library. She will also share some of her recent work with MuseNet, which can generate musical compositions with different instruments.

Workshop:

In this workshop, we'll explore how to analyze large scale intelligent systems from the lens of human-centered design and ethics. Attendees will be divided into small groups to role-play as emerging tech companies and engage in a series of activities and discussions guided with a set of ethical AI cards developed by IDEO. These activities are meant to introduce new ideas and stimulate conversations around ethics throughout the design process.

Following the workshop, attendees are welcome to stay for project collaborations, networking, or catching up with cohort fellows. Meetup hard stop is at 9p.m!
